Description

This dual-focused role is designed for a versatile professional dedicated to the holistic development of children (0–8 years) with developmental differences or disabilities.

As a Therapy Assistant, you will implement clinical programs under the guidance of Allied Health Professionals. As a Therapeutic Support Worker, you will provide the essential "wrap-around" care that focuses on emotional regulation, social inclusion, and daily living skills. By working in the child's natural environment, you ensure that therapeutic goals are not just practised, but lived.

Compliance Requirements
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • National Police Check.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification (HLTAID012 or equivalent).
Essential:
  • Qualifications: Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance, Certificate IV in Disability/Community Support, Certificate/ Diploma in Early Childhood Education, or current enrollment in an Allied Health or Education degree.
  • Dual Competency: Ability to balance structured clinical tasks with the flexible, person-centred approach required for therapeutic support.
  • Interpersonal Excellence: A natural ability to build rapport with children and communicate complex ideas simply to families.
  • Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently and maintain a high level of professional integrity while on the road.
  • Transport: Valid Driver’s License and a reliable, insured vehicle.
Desirable:
  • Experience supporting children with Neurodivergence (Autism, ADHD) or Global Developmental Delay.
  • Working knowledge of NDIS frameworks, specifically regarding "Capacity Building" and "Core" support categories.

Responsibilities

1. Clinical Support & Therapeutic Intervention
  • Implement Therapy Plans: Execute specific therapeutic activities as prescribed by the supervising clinician.
  • Therapeutic Support: Provide 1:1 support focusing on emotional regulation, behavioural management, and the development of age-appropriate life skills.
  • Natural Environment Teaching: Facilitate sessions in homes and schools to ensure skills translate to real-world scenarios.
  • Resource Innovation: Create customised visual schedules, sensory kits, and educational aids tailored to the child’s specific outreach setting.
2. Outreach & Community Collaboration
  • Mobile Caseload Management: Efficiently manage a travel schedule between various community locations.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a vital link between the clinical team, families, and community partners (teachers and educators).
  • Capacity Building: Model therapeutic techniques for parents and caregivers, empowering them to support the child’s goals outside of scheduled sessions.
3. Documentation & Advocacy
  • Holistic Reporting: Maintain professional clinical notes that capture both therapy progress and general behavioural/well-being observations.
  • Feedback Loop: Provide critical updates to the lead therapist regarding engagement levels, environmental barriers, or changes in the child's support needs.
  • Compliance & Safety: Maintain mobile therapy kits and adhere to all safety protocols within diverse community environments.
  • Documentation: Clinical and support notes are accurate, professional, and submitted within 24 hours of the session.
