Neurodiverse Parent/Caregiver Group

A program aimed at providing parents and caregivers with the tools to help them achieve their goals as neurodiverse parents.

Aim of the Program

This program aims to provide parents and caregivers with the tools to help them achieve their goals as parents. Each week, we will discuss challenges that parents face and those based on the current research.

Program Description

Each week, we will run a 1.5-hour session for parents focusing on building parent resilience, de-escalation methods, self-care, advocacy, and evidence-based parenting techniques. The session will be run by a counsellor and a peer support worker to ensure that adequately trained staff are on hand for difficult conversations. All group members will also be given the option for further counselling/peer support if needed. Our sessions will also include a support worker on hand to provide respite to parents so that they can be present for the session while their children engage with the allocated respite worker.
